Four Million Served

Or to be more precise: 4,014,755

That’s how many times the 161 episodes of my novels have been downloaded since March 2008.

That’s about two per minute for just over three years.

Yeah.

Big number.

Thanks to all of you who’ve done the heavy lifting.

Wow!! Ok, if that was each person downloading all of them (which it is not) then that would 25,000 people approximately. And so that is 6 books at let’s say $4 a book. I get $600,000 worth of literature there. Hmmmm. Well, that over 3 years; so only 200,000 a year. Still… Anyway you look at it, this is a wealth of entertainment you have provided, with the wonderful help of podiobooks.com. What a contribution! May it all come back on you, Nathan.

Two Per Minute, but I bet it was well over that around Christmas. Then when it hit the fan, well below that!

None of them are pirates! (Well It’s Talk like a Pirate day, as I post this) (Well, it still is in the US.)

  3. Nate says:

That’s EIGHT books, Anita. Not just the six Share novels. I have two others.

Owner’s Share — the newest — has 30 episodes that have been downloaded in aggregate over 650,000 times. Double Share, the first book for which I have complete numbers has almost a million by itself in three years.

The numbers stagger me and I’ve been watching them accrue all this time.

To get another perspective, in Jan 2010, when I signed with Ridan, I had ONE million. That’s three million downloads over the last 18 months.

  4. Wow, Sar, that’s amazing. And mind blowing. And I feel like I was part of that. Grats! :)

    Here’s to 4014755 more!

  5. Anita says:

Yikes! I forgot about those I’ve been waiting for sequels on. :-) So that’s $800,000. You’d better get to writing. There are folks out there looking for you, I bet.

    “Here’s to 4014755 more!”

    ^this. :)

This is really cool Nate! Good on you! Keep this up and Podiobooks is going to need another upgrade. ;) Thanks for sharing your tales with us.

  8. The Captain says:

I hope it’s not TOO soon or they’ll need to have a bake sale! :D

    Our pleasure, sar!

Thanks for sharing your stories with us Nathan.

I found quarter share on Kindle and was hooked immediatly, read through it, half and fullshare on my pad and then found out there was no more books to buy!

Thats when I found out about your podcasts from podiobooks and it has been a joy listening to your books. I have just started with owners share and look forward to listening to the final chapter in the series!

Loved the books. I would have bought them all on kindle if the print editions existed, and I will when they come out to support a great author taking a risk with a new model for publishing.

  12. The Captain says:

They’ll all get out eventually. :)

Unfortunately I’m in the hands of a publisher and I’m working on their schedule.

  13. The Captain says:

This last one is a bit bumpier than you’re used to.

    Buckle up. :)

  14. Kevin says:

I’m sure I accounted for hundreds of streamings, before I went, why don’t I just download them and put them on my iphone. lol.

Quarter Share on the kindle hooked me. Half Share left me wanting more, and then I found the podcasts…

I think I have listened to every book at least 5 times now and I still cannot get enough.

I look forward to when you continue Captain Ishmael’s story. I can already see some of it. Return to the academy. A visit to the shipyards. Perhaps finally finishing on the the i…. board.

But thank you for the series. In many ways it has inspired me this year to finally live my life. Last year, I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and surgically cured. It was the kick in the ass I needed, and now: your books, bikram yoga, many new friends… I am changing my life and it feels like I am finally on course. Thanks.

    btw I am only 31.

  15. Dan says:

I’ve been loving them, but alas, my hearing makes it hard for me to digest audiobooks, so I’m one of those fans waiting rabidly, er… I mean, patiently for the print books to make their way out.

Best wishes on your continued success.

  16. Lindsay says:

    That’s awesome!

I’m starting to have people send me notes, letting me know that they bought my ebooks after not being able to wait for the podiobook to finish, so I’m glad you steered me in that direction. :) I’ve got the Darkfire Production guys working on Book 2 now!
