Something Different…

Robin Sullivan is trying to get Orbit to hire me to do the audiobook version of Riyria Revelations. This would be the mainstream publisher’s version–not a free podiobooks version.

I don’t know how I feel about it because it’s a lot of work and I don’t know what it might be worth to do, but if you think they should consider me and you have a Facebook account, you might leave a comment on the discussion there.

It’s an interesting idea…

I don’t have a facebook account anymore so hope you don’t mind a comment here. “Interesting” is an interesting choice of descriptors. Also that “it’s going to take a lot of time”.

Perchance is that your gut telling you something?

Am still waiting patiently, expectantly, hopefully for Double Share. Your stories are soooo worth the wait.

    Best regards, Barb

My knee-jerk reaction is that you should stay far away from the big publishers. The important word there might be “jerk,” though, so do whatever you need to. Still, it does seem far more important for you to get your own works done than to further your name as a voice.

I also do not use Facebook. I would suggest that you do what you feel comfortable with, that being said I would love to hear you narrate the whole series.

    Best regards,

    Duncan

It is an experience. It is something you do very well. Will you regret saying No if offered? It is to their own benefit to continue with you more than another Narrator. Remuneration should be expected at a level that recognizes the success and popularity of the first book. I’d buy it, as you know any fan would, because I they know what to expect. It would combine the Author’s fan base with some if not most of your fan base. It would help you with your self discipline through external expectation you are sorely missing at the moment. (sorry for being presumptuous with that comment but it does seem to be so when listening to “tommw” I think you need a looming deadline.

I think you should go for it. But realize I’m selfish I want (need) more of your Audio productions.

    DO IT NOW!!!!!!
It’s a winner hands down. I know it, you know it and everyone who got the podcast knows it. Michael J. Sullivan wrote one hell of a story and your narration made it come to life in a way that reeks of money. I will buy the audio regardless who narrates. But everyone will agree your the perfect voice for it.

    ok dito king jerk.

  7. Bryan Forrester says:

Nate go for it as a longtime listener to your podcast and an audible account holder your voice talent can go a long way in this field.

re: previous post, Well, yes, but as Mr Forrester says, you can go a long way in that field—-except—-is that who you want to be?

do what you think is right. it is up to you in the end

I really enjoyed listening to your podiobooks. I actually first read your first three share books before i discovered Podio. Once Double share was delayed i found the podiobooks listing and of course listed to the last three books. Then i went and listened to the first three books. I feel you would be great as the narrator. However i also think you could do well continuing to create your own work. I know im going to buy the last three share books once they are available for kindle even though i already listened to them. I guess what i saying ( i hope your family with the movie field of dreams) “If you build it, he will come”. What im saying is you that created some great characters and a great universe and if you can produce more books full time you will no longer need whatever your day job is. No Facebook either btw.

As I have always said, the only reason you haven’t won awards for you narration skills, is that your not on anyone’s radar. That said, this is a big step. I would love to hear you read these stories, already heard you read The Crown Conspiracy and I think it made you the voice of Riyria. You wear a lot of hats. If the audiobook is not too steep I’ll purchase Avempartha if you do it.

    Good luck.
