Time for a Facelift?

Not like I’ve got time to do it right now, but working on some new blogs in other areas has got me thinking maybe the Diary needs a bit of a brightening up. Of course, I usually only see the admin interface so I thought I should as you folks. Some of you have spend a lot of time here the last few days.

What do you think? It’s been a couple of years since I upgraded the ole templates… Is it time?

Trader’s tale is about the deep dark. As such, the header graphic and the background is right on. You might choose a brighter color for the content area.

Regarding your site…..I like the looks of it on my PC, but it is very hard to see on my I-phone, especially in daylight. If you are thinking of making a change, I wonder about a mobie version? Why not form a committee to come up with some design ideas (from your Fans) and save your time for “content”?

    Sar,
It’s not broken, why fix it? And, if you think it must be fixed… put the crew to work. we’ll help any way we can, so you can write.
oh… and give us a wiki.

As selfish as this sounds I hope you put off any site changes until Owner’s share is recorded and available. I refresh the podiobooks page a thousand times a day looking for the next episode, so anything that would delay that might cause me to hang myself… I can’t believe it’s almost over (sniff sniff). What am I going to do to get my fix?? I wish there were another 6 books in the works and we could hear about Ish et al until he is 140 years old and is sent out the lock Star Trek style…

Sounds like podiobooks needs to get OS up and finished in self defense!

We took ya down once, ye scurvy server-dogs! Stand and deliver them next five episodes or we’ll CHECK you to death !

A new cracker term: distributed demand for service attack…

I move that this thread be closed so that it will not distract from Ep. 26, 27, 28, 29, & 30.
    Do I hear a second?

    Seconded

Sorry, IceGirl. Evo doesn’t update on Friday night. I forgot that earlier. I’ll have 26 in the morning updates tho, I think.

  9. Sean says:

Not that I’m greedy…. But if 26 is tomorrow, when is 27?

    Oh, heck I’m greedy!

Maybe just change up the homepage a bit? I first came to this website after listening to Ravenwood and before listening to any of the Share series (which I have since done, of course). However, looking for content other than the Share series took a bit the first time, so if you intend to continue with other series, that might make it easer for other new listeners who have not listened to any of the Share series before they come here. Other than that, I want to say that I’ve truly enjoyed all of your books!

I like the simplicity of the site, but I wouldn’t mind having the menu horizontal, with dropdowns. Also, it would be nice if the forum link linked directly to the forums and not an intervening page…

  12. Nate says:

@anne – that’s a good point. I will be working more in the Lammas Wood this year so being able to find it probably would be a good idea. I’ve created a new Nathan Lowell site as a kind of hub but Trader’s Diary has really become a “first stop” for a lot of people.

After so many adventures, on so many places, I am utterly destroyed. Article 37 is just so hard. How can we proceed under these conditions ? My total focus and most basic functions are labored and confused. We are
    lost… In The Deep Dark….

  14. Dan says:

any mobile support/design would be appreciated. can be turned on in WP3

  15. Nate says:

that’s a good idea. lemme look into it.
