Home Again

The trip went well, overlooking the small mechanical difficulties on the trip back that cost me a connection and gave me an extra two hours in Chicago. On a scale of things, it was minor.

BaltiCon itself was a stunning success and I’m already counting down to next year.

One thing I had time to do was think, and I’m spending too much time on non-writing tasks. That’s going to change. This website will be getting an overhaul and many of the missing/broken/mismatched bits will get cleaned up. I suspect it’ll get another theme change — one with threaded comments, if nothing else. A lot of the “get the book” stuff will move to a master page where ALL the books in all the formats can find a home.

If you have ideas about what you’d like to see, leave a comment and we’ll see how many of your great ideas we can incorporate as we go.

Thanks for hanging in there, crew. I’m looking forward to getting new work out PDQ.

It kinda tickles my funny bone when you say that you want to spend less time on non-writing tasks, only to tell us that you’re going to overhaul the website in the next sentence ;-)
As for things I’d see changed, well, I’d mention that Ridan sells all ebook formats, including Mobi for Kindle and ePub for B&N’s Nook, not just alternates. They’re cheaper, their files are not encumbered by DRM and they sell to non-US citizens like myself (unlike B&N, and Amazon, if you were stupid enough to relocate your Kindle account to your home country whenthey asked you to). Now if only Robin could get somebody to automate their delivery instead of having to do it manually…

Yeah, I realized that sounded odd, Thomas, but the overhaul is being done by somebody else. My involvement is limited to a few minutes a day at most.

Well, I for one am pleased to hear that you will be chaining yourself to your desk and revisiting those wonderful worlds of your imagination. I can’t wait to read more about the Solar Clipper universe.

Be nice to know how The “prodigal son” made out with his career/life. Wonder if the two of them ever meet up again for another adventure…..

you write it and I will buy it.

    Tom

what he said. you write it i’ll buy it. i almost gave up when it took so long to get double share out. must have more of ishmael’s story:)

i’d listen to the audiobook, but i’m incapable of listening to someone read. when i read my eyes basically take a snapshot of the page and my brain translates that into a kind of mind movie. people reading out loud drives me crazy:(

  5. Dion Fillimen says:

I really enjoyed Double Share! I really wish you would make the books longer. Will Ishmael get back into the trading business? Will we ever see any of the other characters from before he went off to the academy? The main thing I would like is, just for the books to be longer. Keep them coming, I will keep buying them and recommending them to everyone I know. Thank you!

  6. Donald Anderson says:

Dude I feel you on the audio books I cant stand it when someone reads out loud. I also turn books into movies in my head and become the person I am reading about. Thats one of the reasons I live to read.

  7. The Captain says:

Dion – The next book – Captain’s Share is 150k words. That’s about 20k more than Double. Owner’s Share comes in at nearly 200k words. That doorstop will take you a while to get thru.

Scoot and Donald – Audio’s not for everybody. It’s why I started producing text versions of the books. They’re coming. Give it time.
