April Fool

Yeah. That’s me.

Well, I hope I’m not going to continue to be a fool all month, but you never know.

Not much on the news front.

Still waiting for the cover art for Full Share. It should be out this month. I was hoping for *early* in the month but I think we’re looking at mid-month at this point.

I have Cape Grace and a novella in the word processor, altho I’m not making a lot of progress on either.

One thing I’ve had to get serious about is health. I’ve started walking every day again. Every morning at about 5.30 I take a walk around my neighborhood (2 miles) and for the last 15 minutes or so, I record whatever it is I’m thinking about. These are just rambly, whatever I have on my mind, un-edited audio. I put them online at Talking On My Morning Walk so if you want to know what’s going on from day to day, that’s the place to follow.

More news soon, I hope.

Definately looking forward to the novella and Cape Grace.

Nice to see it’s getting warmer for you for the morning walk (per your tweet this AM). Is the novella the Odin’s Outpost that you were working on?

*settles back and sighs comfortably, knowing there’s more Traders Tales universe coming-as if there was any doubt!*

Glad to hear you’re taking your health seriously! I REALLY need you to keep writing so I can get my fix… :)

I’ve been reading Sci-Fi/Fantasy since gradeschool (my dad’s Heinleins, Asimov’s, Nivens, Piper, et al) and now in my 40’s you made it to my “purchase when published/released list” with your first text (well, Kindle) book.

Greatly enjoying your stories and thank you for sharing.

    Geoff

Thank you more than you could possibly know. The morning walks are a god send to someone who is house bound. Once more I have to nag about the writing time. All of the authors who have been sucessful have a time they ” Will Write ” . This time is inviolate . If you would like some help let me know here.
    Thanks again. Jimmie

    Re: Odin’s Outpost.
Hope you can work out whatever’s “not right” with the story.

The following seems to be required here:
If you need more nagging or “disparaging words” (which are in short supply out on the Range) another hole in your head, or editorial feedback to drive you crazy, I appear to have lots of time on my hands. Hesitate to ask.

    Nate,

I don’t mean to nag but… April? FS is (we hope) due out shortly in text form. What’s the status on the HS hardcovers? I spent five years in design and printing before joining the puddle pirates. I have yet to see an explanation that makes sense for this delay. Is the margin not high enough for Ridan? Are they in trouble? Can we help?!?

  8. Nate says:

I’m trying to find out what the hold up is. My sense is that Ridan is overwhelmed with the changes they’re going through there. Michael is racing to keep up with this new deal with Orbit. Robin is trying to get shut of her day job. They still have the family and normal kinds of interruptions that brings.

Believe me. Nobody’s more anxious for this to get resolved than *I* am, but hang in there. It’ll be resolved as soon as we can get it there. Patience is the biggest help you can give us at this point.

    Want Full Share! RAR

  10. Adrian says:

I bought Quarter and Half share today on kindle for iPad, and oh joys of speed-reading, I’ve finished them both. Am eagerly awaiting the next book, is there a light at the end of the tunnel that isn’t an oncoming train?
