Happy Hollandaise

It doesn’t seem possible, but South Coast is complete. Props to the folks at Podiobooks for all their support in getting all 21 episodes up in 12 days. It’s the longest of the books at 97k words and, I think, the most ambitious in terms of plot and characterization.

To recap this year:
Quarter Share – 17 episodes completed in March
Half Share – 14 episodes completed in May
Full Share – 16 episodes completed in September (yea, sorry about that)
South Coast – 21 episodes completed in December

That’s four books, 68 episodes, and over 24 hours of audio!

And because of YOU and your voting for the titles on Podiobooks.com, Quarter Share and Full Share are on the Top Ten for Quality *and* Most Rated. South Coast is on its way to joining them. While this might seem trivial, it really helps to keep the titles visible to newcomers to the Podiobook site. (If you haven’t rated them, please? Every little bit helps. You need to subscribe to the titles on Podiobooks to do so. )

So thanks for a great 2007 and I’m looking forward to these new projects in the coming year:

– Time Crime by H. Beam Piper. As part of the SFFAudio.com 2nd Audio Challenge, I’ll be lending voice to a classic sci fi author. Look for this to wrap by the end of January and be published on Podiobooks.com.

– Double Share – the first of the new Trader’s Tales trilogy. My calendar has this on for January to write and February to record. We’ll see how well my NaNoWriMo discipline holds up.

– Cape Grace – the link volume between South Coast and Half Share. It should be an interesting challenge to get the two story lines to link up, but I’m penciling this into March and April.

– Captain’s Share. May – June.

– Owner’s Share. July – August

… this is all with the proviso that RL doesn’t get in the way and that I can actually scrape together the time and energy to tell these stories.

Well I need to start listening to South Coast and I can’t wait for the continuation of the “Share” storyline.

This is a wonderful universe you have built here and I can’t wait to hear more of it!

  2. Jill Z says:

Wow! I am enormously happy that you are so prolific because I can’t get enough.

I tend to listen to podcasts in the car or when doing chores but I save yours for times when I can just sit and listen so I don’t miss a word.

Thank you for letting us “share” your special universe.

  3. Evo says:

    You amaze me, sir.

And if you’re up for suggestions, stick in the Shaman’s Tale arc for a while. Not that I didn’t love Trader’s, you understand. Just curious where you’ll take this one.

    Nate, you’ve been busy!

Thanks, happy Hoilendaze to you too.. Don’t get to sauced up…

Thanks, and I’m snagging the new files now!

BTW, what are the peoples of your novels called? Earthlings? What’s the name of the universe? Or, more to the point, Huchins has clones, Sigler has junkies, what are Fans of Nathan Lowell called??? Crew members of the Lois? Loisites? Followers of the Shaman? ??
    ????
    — Ok, I gotta get back to truckin’….

  5. Nate says:

    Fans of Nathan Lowell??

    Individuals of impeccable taste.

BTW, love the new look and feel. Much easier to read.

My vote for fan moniker: Crew.

  7. RandyNose says:

Crew Seems like a Good Moniker. Now all we need is a T Shirt of the the Lois (or some spaceport maybe) with Ish and three Gorgeous gals with him… And, after I have a listen to the rest of South Coast… Maybe a Shell or a picture of a whelkie. ??

Oh and the new colors look nice!
( I just hope that Nathan, is smarter then me, and doesn’t blow something up like I do when I start fiddling… And if he does, HE has a good backup… LOL…)
    w00t!

  8. Nate says:

Well I’m good with crew .. In my emails, I use “shipmates” .. either/both work for me.

The T-shirts all have the Federated Freight “Double F” logo on them. I’m a little loath to put Lois on one .. the shape is a little bit too much like a “personal massager” if you know what I mean, and think you do. Don’t forget the “Ships Store” is open at http://www.cafepress.com/solarclipper :)

Now, if we can find a few hotties to take pictures off/with … hm.

    Oooh. Maybe SL avatars?
