Facts and Figures

For those of you who count such things, I sent some of these out on the list last night but the rest of you might be interested to know:

Jan 12, 2007: Sat down to write Quarter Share.
Jan 29, 2007: Began Half Share
Feb 18, 2007: Podiobooks posted the first 6 episodes of Quarter Share.
Feb 18, 2007: Began Full Share
Mar 3, 2007: Finished the original Full Share
Apr 29, 2007: Podiobooks posted the first 5 episodes of Full Share.
Jun 25, 2007: Podiobooks let me start Full Share with only two episodes.
Sep 26, 2007: Podiobooks marked the trilogy complete.

In all, it’s 47 episodes, almost 23 hrs of audio, and about 250,000 words by actual word processor count. Something more like 320,000 using the page-length mode that publishers use.

November’s coming and I may try to do a National Novel Writing Month work that’s peripheral to the main story line, just to give Ishmael and the gang a little breather, but there are plans for three more Trader’s Tales as Ishmael works his way up to owner. They won’t be available this year, but I wouldn’t rule out a pre-quel — perhaps the story of the original Lois McKendrick during the NaNoWriMo.

  1. I’m glad we haven’t heard the last of Ishmael. I’ve enjoyed these books; I hope you won’t get tired of him or his universe soon which is to say I will listen to more podiobooks. I don’t read print so audio is so important.

Great to hear more will come later on! I really enjoyed the books so far.
If you have the time and feel like making the effort, I believe we all would like any short stories about the lives of the different characters, or just something happening “between” stories.
