I would appreciate it if you would in future desist from using my name in your stories- I’m getting fed up of my name now being an item on peoples tee shirts!!! Or perhaps I could get royalties for your use of my name??

With people entering contests to name the ships and celebrating their appearances in my stories, apparently I picked the name of somebody who doesn’t appreciate being made a heroine.

Go figger.

A quick online search pulled up at least 10 women named Lois McKendrick living in the US alone. How does she know you mean her? :-)

  2. Nate says:

When I google the name, I don’t get anything except “Share” stuff until like page 5 and then it’s an English school girl.

But you’re right, it’s probably not her, but some *other* Lois …

  3. James says:

I hope she wasn’t being serious. That would just be silly.

  4. Sam Chupp says:

Trust Lois. Just not that one.

  5. Nate says:

I got a nice email back from her.

She’s a little weirded out, but not angry :)

  6. According to http://howmanyofme.com there are at least two people called Lois McKendrick in the U.S alone. Even if there was only one though, thats like claiming you somehow own the exclusive rights to the name. Is she a famous person where her name is also a Brand or Trade Mark? How odd… I’m tempted to write a novel about a happy penguin called Lois McKendrick who fights crime and sells frozen yoghurt!

  7. At least she isn’t actually angry. Maybe she should get a free Lois Tshirt :)

  8. Neil Armstrong says:

I know how she feels! People keep talking about me going to the moon fourty years ago or so. I’ve never even been on an airplane! I keep trying to tell them it must be someone’s idea of a joke. After all, people have never been to the moon anyway so…..
