September Update

Where does the time go? September? Really?

New book news: Double Share is in Ridan’s hands. Whether it comes out this month or next, I don’t know. It’s being edited and I’m waiting for the edits to come back to me for approval.

Old book news: Hard covers. The signed limited editions for Half and Full Share are still in process. I have no information from Ridan about when that process might end other than what I heard before — We’re looking for a new source. Might be an actual offset printer this time if we can find one that can do a short run. I’ll keep you posted, but all I can tell you is what I know.

New podcast news: I’m working on Cape Grace — writing it, not podcasting yet. I think it’s close to where I need to be in order to binge thru to the end. These things vex me and I never know when it’s going to click. I have to say, I’m hooked and I really need to find out what’s going to happen next…which sorta means I need to write it, and soon.

Old podcast news: Talking On My Morning Walk is still going on. I still find stuff to natter about every morning out there in the darkness. Go figure. If you want to listen to me ramble you’ll find the link in the sidebar.

New project news: I’ve started another blog — like I need more, right? It occurred to me that I’m getting a lot of requests for guest posts .. both for giving them and getting them — but that neither this blog, nor Lammas Wood are really appropriate venues for showcasing works that aren’t at least tangentially related. I’m meeting more and more interesting writers and I think some of you might find them interesting, too. Rather than have them all come here, I’ve created a new space and opened it up to creatives of all types. Expect mostly writers but I’ve already had an inquiry from a voice artist — who knows what’ll show up.

I call it “Nathan Lowell Presents” and we’ve already had a couple of posts there. I’ve got more in the wings and at least a half dozen people who’ve asked if they can play along. What I’m shooting for is part variety show, part circus act, and all entertainment. Some will take the stage with a flare, some with a bang — and some, undoubtedly, with a whimper and a splat, but keeping in the best of show business traditions — the show must go on. If you’re interested in seeing who else is playing in the indie-sphere, take a look.

[ETA: 1/24/18 – unfortunately that site had to go away.]

And while you’re looking for new indies, take a look at what Allison has started over at Author Outbreak! Every day she features an indie author in a different genre. There’s a community that you can sign up for to participate in the forums, and a steady parade of new works coming through the doors. Take a peak and see what you link.

Finally, a word from our sponsors: Don’t forget that A Light In The Dark is available in ebook form. I’ve even set up a new store here on the Trader’s Diary where you SHOULD be able to order it direct from me and get an automatic link for downloading your choice of format. Please let me know if that widget gives you any problems.

Thanks to everyone. While I often joke around a lot here, I do appreciate all the support and encouragement you’ve offered over the years.

Ok, now I need to get back to … sigh … not writing.

Nathan!!! I am so very NOT happy with you at the moment. I am listening to “Owner’s Share” right now. I just listened to the chapter with the attack. There jolly well better be a happier ending somewhere down the way. Don’t make me travel over there, kick you in the shin and wrangle a happy ending out of you.

Nathan, I have enjoyed your books immensely. Thank you so much for writing them.

    Take Care, Anne

  2. Anne Gustafson says:

(Insert a heavy sigh here). Okay, Nathan, I just finished “Owner’s Share”. Not the happy ending I was hoping for but you did leave me with some hope for “new beginnings”. Please consider starting the new beginning sooner rather then later.

Once more, thank you for writing such wonderful stories. I look forward to seeing them all in print (eBook) eventually.

    Anne

    :)

I’m glad you got over the shock. It was a hard place in the road, but it opens the door to new beginnings … and I’m looking forward to getting to tell them.

Yes, that “Article 37” was a hard place in the road.

I’m re-listening to OS for the third time and I keep wondering why Ishmael makes the same damn mistakes over and over again. You would think that after the 3rd time he would have hired the guy with the nice butt instead of the spacer that he did hire. Or that he would have noticed the situation with the tankage earlier. Sheesh, what a dummy. :-P

  6. Marc says:

    Nathan,

I’ve read (or listened) to everything you’ve done now. Can’t get enough…so please finish up Cape Grace – or send Ishmael on another mission – something – to give me enough motivation to drive to work every morning. Keep up the great work.

  7. Thanks for the mention, Nathan! We are always looking for great self-pub/indie-pub authors and you are one of the best!

I have the greatest fans in the world, Wendy :D

  10. Cat says:

Please no more spoilers for those of us who prefer their media in print form:)

Hope Double Share makes it out soon – I expect a several day hospital stay in the next few weeks and was hoping to have it to help pass the time.

  11. Nate says:

    Sorry, Cat.

Both about the spoilers and about the delay on the book.

I wish I had answers to both.

I love all your books, especially Solar Clipper; cannot wait until Kindle version Double Share hits.

Printing possibility – I love Southwest Direct in Abilene, Texas – they hosted our Abilene Writers Guild this past April and feasted us and gave us incredible information on printing. They have a big fast high production series printer and they do a lot of the self publishing for folks and have old (in doggie years and experience years) publishers who know all the new tricks – they are such neat people – oh, and you could join our Writer’s Guild as well; we would love to have you and you would love the group. We all love to write-I’m a newbie, but there are lots of well-published folk in the group.
