  1. J Treptow says:

I just finished reading Quarter Share and Half Share on Kindle. I enjoyed the books and am eagerly waiting the release of Full Share. I am excited to see works like these come out in this format.

    Thank You!

  2. Moreta says:

I’m glad to hear that you are revisiting Tanith Fairchild (Ravenwood) with Overton & hope you make the Summer 2011 target. I’ve greatly enjoyed every one of the Trader’s books, South Coast, Ravenwood & your voice work for other authors (mostly Tee Morris & Philippa Ballantine). I’ve been listening to the Audio presentations (Thank the All-Mother for podiobooks!) for about a year now & find your voice & writing style is TOP NOTCH!!
You stated elsewhere that Cape Grace is available not — I looked on both Amazon & Podiobooks — where is it??!!

  3. Nate says:

Sorry. Cape Grace isn’t done. I’m working on it now.

  4. Kevin Hill says:

I just finished reading Quarter Share and Half Share on Kindle and I am hooked. I await Full Share and the rest of the series on Kindle with great enthusiasm! Thanks, and good luck!

  5. harold lyke says:

  6. Nate says:

    Thanks, Harold.

There’ll be a new book along soon.

  7. Bruce Lunde says:

I downloaded Quarter and Half share two days ago to my kindle. I hate to say it, but I read both, twice. I need Full Share asap, and some sleep. This is good storytelling, and I cannot wait for more!

  8. Nate says:

Full Share should be out this month. Double is coming at the end of the summer.

    Hang in! :D

  9. Marjorie Corrin says:

I agree with all the other comments. I regret to say I’m a paper book reader, so I discovered your wonderful series too early! Maybe this means I’ll have to buy a Kindle. . .

  10. Nate says:

Paper is available for the first two .. third book comes out in paper and ebook at the same time .. should be in a couple of weeks.

  11. Mick says:

Please bring out the rest of the traders series on kindle as soon as possible. I have enjoyed reading quarter and half share immensely.

  12. Nate says:

They’re coming to all text formats as soon as we can get them thru the pipes, Mick.

    Hang in there.

  13. Roni says:

I am another kindle fanatic who stumbled across Quarter Share and Half Share and fell in love. Can’t wait to see Full Share. Thanks for the great storytelling!

  14. Nathan Rowland says:

I loved the first two books they where two of the most interesting book that i have ever had the pleasure of reading cant wait for full share to come out hoping it doesnt take much longer.

  15. Nate says:

    I hope so too :)

  16. David Bridges says:

wow… Amazon.com suggested Quarter Share for me on Thursday and I have since devoured the first two books. It has been a long time since a story and group of characters has gripped me so strongly. These books are great and I have recommended them to our local science fiction fandom group.

I can’t wait for the rest of them to be in print but until then I will continue my journey with the audio books since there is no way I am going to deprive myself until I can get a readable copy :)

  17. NickG says:

OK, I’m going through withdrawal here. I waited till the end of April to say anything, but I need my fix of Full Share on my Kindle. Any news on its release?

  18. Nate says:

No. I wish there was but I’m still waiting on edits to come back from Ridan. :(

  19. Robert Kaul says:

I have finished Quarter Share and almost done reading Half Share, I’m ready for the remaining four titles, Great Story!

  20. Len says:

I’ve listened to them all and have the first two on Kindle. I can tell you they will be worth the wait. And I’ll probably add them to my kindle too. But my question is…what’s next after these get through the pipes.

  21. Nate says:

I’ve got two more on the drawing boards now, plus a new series for Ishmael in the works.

  22. David Pfeiffer says:

Quarter share and Half Share I flew through the two wonderful books. As soon as the others are ready for my Kindle I am ready for them. Thank you for the entertainment of these wonderful characters. But hurry I need Full Share NOW!

  23. Sam R says:

I read Quarter Share and Half Share and I’m going crazy! Gimme Full Share!

  24. Nate, I did not really enjoy the Kindle my wife bought me until half way through the first chapter of Quarter Share. Good show and bravo!

  25. Nate says:

    @sam r – as soon as I can, it’ll be there.

  26. Scottd says:

Mr Lowell, thank you for such a refreshing take on sci-fi stories. I am a big book reader and I especially like series stories. I typically don’t start a series unless it’s 3 or more books long. I stumbled on to your superior work of the “Solar Clipper Trader Tails” while looking for a new series to start. (I hate it when I finish a series, I feel like I’m in limbo until I find something I like) Your work is right up my ally. I check my Kindle for “Full Share” almost by the hour. I can’t remember being this excited about a book release since Jane Aule’s “The Land of Painted Caves” (what a let down that book was). I look forward to more work from you and I have already recommended your work to several of my reader friends.

  27. Justin says:

Full share was another great book. Now for the long wait for Double Share….

  28. Benjamin says:

Really enjoyed quarter share and half share on kindle – couldn’t wait for full share so took the plunge and listened to the rest as audio books. I really enjoyed all the books and even listened to the others you have done (South Coast and Ravenwood) and look forward to hearing and eventually seeing your new works :)

  29. Nate says:

Thanks, Benjamin. With any luck, you shouldn’t have to wait too long :)

  30. Val says:

I love it. Wish it didn’t take so long to get them in print or on Kindle. Patience is not my virtue when I find an author I really like!
    Thank you!

  31. gohorns says:

Hurry up and kindle the double share. Nice series btw and the next book time line would seem to offer up a nearly limitless oportunity for plot lines. Burned through the first 2 the 3rd dragged a bit near the end but meh thats probably just me wanting more candy.

  32. Nate says:

Double Share is due out in August. Captain’s in December. Owner’s in April.

I should probably change the schedule to reflect that.

  33. Jonathan Moore says:

Ack! I have been in a reading frenzy! I have read all of the kindle versions of your series and am sad to see that Double Share won’t be released until August!

I guess this is a good thing…I can actually live a life now until August. =)

  34. Nate says:

Sorry, Jonathan. You’ve found me before we’ve had a chance to get all the books up in print. That’s the bad news. The good news is that, once they’re there, they’ll be available for a very, very long time.

  35. Cheryl says:

have also just finished Full Share on Kindle and am eager to read the next three…..August for Double Share? grrrrrrrr…..well I waited 30 years +/- for a Tron sequel so thats not so bad……so enjoyed these books…..took me back to my military days…..was stationed in Korea and Alaska…Elmendorf AFB….my step-bro was a Coastie at Kodiak…. and the books reminded me of the comraderie of those days…thanks

  36. Nate says:

    Sorry about the wait.

Given that Ridan has published three in a year, that’s pretty good. Three more next year :)

  37. David Taylor says:

    Nathan,

I have just yesterday been sucked into your Solar Clipper universe. Like a lot of other people I am finding it really refreshing.

My one comment that you may not care to hear is that the B&N Nook version of Quarter Share that I am reading has some fairly bad typographic issues. The text switches annoying back and forth between two completely different fonts. Does this happen on all the Nook books? Have you had similar reports for Amazon?

    Thanks for the hard work!

  38. Nate says:

    Thanks, David.

The problem with the Nook version of QS is that it went thru the Smashwords sausage mill and that causes problems — and different problems — for practically every platform on the other side. We’re trying to get a native Nook version running for the rest.

You can order straight epub from the Ridan Publishing site and *that* should be clean.

  39. David Taylor says:

    Nate,

Understood.Just finished QS and bought HS from B&N. No problems and it reads very smoothly.

One typo “birth” should be “berth” at the very beginning.

    Thanks, David

  40. David Taylor says:

OK, I went and looked at the Ridan Publishing site and it seems to be a little overwhelming. I will try Full Share from Ridan Publishing when I get there.

One of the big advantages of buying a book from B&N is supposed to be synchronizing the furthest read page between devices. It doesn’t seem to work well on the new Nook Simple Touch right now though.

The sync thing is great if you mostly read on a Nook at night but like to sneak in a chapter or two at lunch and only have your iPhone handy. Will B&N ever sync the Ridan eBooks?

    David

  41. Grant says:

It’s been a long time since I’ve discovered a story line that is truely new. The solar clipper series has been exactly that and entertaining to. Thank you for the joyful tale, colorful characters and lots and lots of laughs. Can’t wait for double share.

  42. Rick says:

Three weeks ago I found and bought the Kindle ebooks of Quarter Share, Half Share and Full Share. Was looking for a new, interesting series and have to say I found it – couldn’t put them down! Unfortunately I just finished Full Share and now find myself in the position of waiting for other 3 ebooks to get released to Kindle!

Oh well, I will have to find something in the meantime but please add me to email notification for these releases to Kindle. Thanks from an ex long-time sailor for a fun and refreshing approach to Science Fiction Novellas.

  43. David Taylor says:

Just finished Full Share. Great stuff.

If there is any element of keeping the remaining eBooks back to maximize revenue, then stop that!

The readership needs them now! You are forcing us to listen to the podcasts, which is a whole lot less convenient in my case.

Thanks for writing these. They are so cool!

  44. Robert Kaul says:

Nate, Is Double Share going to be on schedule for October 2011?

  45. Nate says:

Actually, I think it’s been moved up to August, Robert.

  46. Robert Kaul says:

Thats good to hear , keep up the great work!

  47. David Taylor says:

Just finished the podcast of Double Share.

You write and read well, Nathan!

  48. Dave Eizinger says:

This is a wonderful series and a wonderful take on space-based sci-fi. Some authors are so concerned with laying out spectacular space battles that character development suffers; not so with the “Trader” series. I’ve really come to care aout the inhabitants of the Lois.
I started “Full Share” on my Kindle last week, but had to pause and re-read Quarter and Half Share before proceeding. I’m looking forward to “Double Share” in August.
To the folks with problems on the Nook version, the Kindle versions do not seem to have any layout issues.
    Dave

  49. Nate says:

    Thanks, Dave.

I’ve been thinking that the Nook problems are more related to the “sausage machine” that Smashwords uses than anything else. Ridan’s shifting to direct publishing on the Nook, I believe. We’ll see if that works any better.

  50. Will98 says:

    Nate,

I am enjoying the series and am looking forward to where it will go from here. I am in awe of the ability to create and describe an entire universe and then build a compelling story within those confines. Very enjoyable summer read. Keep them coming, please.
