I’ve really been enjoying these stories; I’m most of the way through South Coast, and biting my nails in anticipation of Double Share
While I’m totally into the podcast novel format, I know a few people who would really love these who aren’t so much into audio fiction as I am. Any chance of these ever showing up in a print run?

Question: I pulled all of these books off of itunes, not Podio. Do you distribute them to each source at the same time or will I (we) have to wait.
The iTunes feed is actually just a specialized representation of the podiobooks feed so it’s all good. There’s a *short* delay for a new feed to appear on iTunes. I have to submit each book separately which means a new submission and approval process. That takes a day or so. But I start the iTunes submission process as soon as the title appears on podiobooks.

I have to say of all the science fiction I have read (or listened to in this case), I am the most impressed by your works. What really wins me is the main character, Ish. I’ve always wanted an intelligent hero that happens to be smarter than most of his obstacles. While not an epic struggle, the realistic problems he faces make the setting and Ish all the more lovable. Currently, you rival my favorite Fantasy author; Robert Lynn Asprin. In fact, you just might surpass him in my personal hierarchy of best authors. I hope you will keep the series, or at least the setting, going for a long time.
Nathan, you have my life somed up in your books. I get a kick out of lessoning to the ships watches. being on a ship of my own it remindes me of my life as a watch stander and it makes me lagh thanks again for a great book.

Just finished Double Share. I don’t know what to say…. these books have been wonderful. I’ve found so much of myself in Ish and that has kept of glued to each chapter. Thanks Nate, I’ll be looking for Ish and the gang in the future. I’ve been wondering if he’ll meet up again with Captain Giggone again. Better yet, how about another enounter with Alverez. There are so many stories that are yet to be written and I can’t wait to hear each and every one. Thanks again Nate. Exceptional work.

I really did Just listen to all four books in a week (GOTTA LOVE MY ZUNE!) Looking foward to see Captain Ish or at least First Mate Ish in action. It would be interesting to see how The Everyman Ish handles being a true leader.
Just finished Double Share. Wonderful book great series and fantastic reading of the books. Great twist starting on a sick ship and making it better as his first ship made him better.
But with the name salvage in the company name I thought you may get them involved in that. But with Ish’s lack of skills for that type of work it may be better to leave him in the relative safety of not working in a space suit.
Tremendous! Have been following from day one and really enjoy each episode. Little hard to keep track of the characters with the firstname/lastname/nickname multiple references but heck, that’s what rewind is for! Kind of a Chalker-esque pre-occupation with the “deed” but maybe I’m too old. Finally, What happened to Ish’s portable? Perhaps even in that century, 5-year old tech is useless. Great Job! Looking forward to the rest.

I wanted to say thank you for writing these books I found them purely by accident, but I’ve found a certain type of familiarity in their words. Ive got to say im only now finishing Half Share and I cant wait to finish the others. I have been in the United States Coast Guard for over 8 years and I just recently found out that you are also a Coastie. If you find your self in the New York city area. I was actually a Coastie in NYC myself in the early 70′s. I attended the USCG Radioman “A” school there on Governor’s Island before they moved it to Alameda.
I read that about you in the WIKI, no doubt that that is the reason that I feel so at home whilst listing to you books. I cant wait to hear more. Are you thinking of releasing them in Hard back form someday? I would definitely purchase the whole lot of them and any others to come.
Some of our chiefs have told us stories of Governors Island, some of them sound a bit crazy, even by todays standards. Its always interesting to hear stories from veteran Coasties.
Carver, its the waterman in you. Being a Coasty and being on the water will get into your blood, if it isn’t already. I think I spent a month on G. I. one week back in 96. Something about checking in they said something like “Oh your going to be in Hotel Hell, Um, Building 400, second deck. Yea, lots of fun, roaches didn’t bother me, but that rat that kept trying to steal my boondockers had me worried. And yes it was a big rat! Bigger than my size 10 it was trying to get down the hole to the first deck. Yeah, I retarded, I mean retired after 21 years.
Oh And Nate will ya hurry up already!

Hi I don’t have an ipod and download the books on to my computer and hear them on my mp4 while getting some exercise. I have read Quartershare and am reading Half share. I am really enjoying the way you create a “world”. I love the combination of old and new. Its nice to know that so much of our world will not change including Single malt whisky. I also appreciate the way you build up the ship code of conduct including that it is not politically correct to have relations with a crew member. It is inserted very naturally. I indeed like Ish. Don’t you think that he is sometimes too perfect? True he studied for Spec 1 instead of spec 3. But do let somebody else get the upper hand from time to time. Thanks Chaim
Thanks, Chaim. I’m not convinvced, really, that a lot about our world won’t change, but I do feel pretty strongly that some things about what makes us people will stay relatively constant. One of the ongoing critiques is that Ishmael always wins and never actually has to face any adversity. Keep in mind that you’re only seeing the story through his eyes and most people don’t recognize — and fewer still admit — when they’ve made mistakes. As Ishmael ages, you might see some changes there.
Oh, and the nice thing about podcasts? You don’t need an ipod to listen. Any mp3 player will do!

I certainly cant deny that the “waterman” in me is deep rooted. While I was in Cuba we had a few run in’s with the banana rats, there a kind of marsupial and they have a knack for stealing shiny things and other sailors belongings. It would be a common site to see one walking off with keys or even a pack of someone’s cigarettes.
I have 8 years in now and I don’t have any intention of leaving early. ( I’d like to stay young as long as I can)
If Nate can keep em coming, I’ll keep reading to relive my pleasantly familiar days.
Carver, I hear ya about the banana Rats at GITMO. The Big lizzards there are fun too. Way to go 8 years down 12 to go. But you have to admit sailing in D-7 waters aint half bad in the winter time. I sailed from D-1 to the D-7 waters every 6 to 8 weeks. Should have been 8 out 8 in, but that never worked out. Are you a Snipe, decky, or ops?
I’ve known Nate for a very long time, I have no dout that he’ll keep em coming. We just have to wait.

Speaking of the iguana, once we actually had one come up to our group and snatch a piece of partially cooked chicken off of the grill while we were enjoying a party at Cable beach. It was a sight to see. I spent some time in D-9 on Lake Michigan doing search and rescue, unfortunately I wasn’t fond of the waters up there. I am currently a BM2 attached to a deploy able security unit and I am working on my package for OCS. What was your rate and what cutter were you on? Do you also write? If so, I’d be interested in checking it out .

Not me Carver, Had hard enough time writing the engineers log. Lets see started Cape May, went to the cutter Chase ,378, when it was in Boston. “A” school in Yorktown for MK. Radio station New Orleans as MKiC. Lighthouse Keeper at Wood Island off the coast of Maine. The Vigilant ,210′, out of New Bedford, Ma. RIO in Rhode Island. Lampadusa, Itlay. Presidential security detactment, New Castle, NH. (Nate was stationed on the Active which was station there, but long before my time.) Group South Portland was my last unit. Had alot of fun.
Hi Nate! Just wanted to drop you a line and say that I’m really enjoying the Share books. I’m about halfway through Full Share, and they’re a great way to keep my brain occupied when I’m staring into a microscope for 4 hours or doing some other less-than-stimulating lab work. Both Ish and Pip seem to have been putting on some *ahem* mileage in this one….
Just listened to all of Ish’s adventures so far again. Any idea when the next one will be coming out?
I’m trying to get Cape Grace out next and then Captain’s Share will be close behind. Double Share should be in the running for this coming year’s Parsec awards and I’m really hoping to get one more book in before the deadline for this year.
No promises, because my day job demands are humongous these days.
