Double Share

Well, I always wanted to have a big release party. People across America will be joining me in celebration today as the latest volume in the Trader’s Tales drops on Podioboks.com. I hear there’ll be be fireworks tonight.

Find Double Share on Podiobooks.com today.A Traders Tale from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper : Book 4

When he graduates from the Academy at Port Newmar, Ishmael Horatio Wang reports for duty in his first assignment as an officer. When he gets to his new ship, he finds things are not exactly the way he’d learned in school. The coffee tastes like used engine oil, the ship has no heart, and the nearest decent tailor is two quadrants away. What’s a new Third Mate to do? Will he be able to trust Billy?

“Wonder why he didn’t think of it…”

Well, then it wouldn’t have been a story! :)

You know Nate. The mark of a great story is talking as if the characters are real people who do things on their own. :D

    Thanks for the link.

  2. kmsqrd says:

Oh thank you!! While I wish I’d known before vacation, it will definitely make the week o’ hell coming back so much better.

Love the stories can’t wait for the next one. Do you have a time line of when you are expecting to start/finish the next installment of the series.

  4. Nate says:

Captain’s Share should be out this fall.

  5. Steady says:

I’ve listened again to double share and figured out what was missing !! It’s the whole trading part of the story you say at the start or end of each episode “this is a TRADERS tale from the age of the solar clipper”

  6. Nate says:

    Yea .. but he’s still a trader.

He DID go to the Flea.

We’ll see him take a more active role in Captain’s Share, I think :)

  7. Steady says:

yeah he went to the flea but didn’t get anything !! On another note today is my birthday !! :-D

Thank you for adding double share to the Ishmael saga. This was as brilliantly written and engaging as the previous books. Here’s hoping there will further books in the series.

    Cheers,
    Mike

  9. Joe says:

so how’s captains share coming along? :P i have a trip pretty soon and was wondering if i might be treated with a release :) if not ill just re-listen to them all. :)

  10. Nate says:

Sekrit Project is taking longer than I wanted.

Don’t plan on Captains Share for your trip

  11. Michael says:

When I saw Double Share on podiobooks my heart skipped a beat. And it was as anticipated fantastic. These are great stories. You have a great voice – when you read I feel like it is a small group next to a fireplace with you telling us the story. I only wish I were as smart as Ismahel. I hope there are more coming.

  12. Nate says:

Yes, there are more on the way.

  13. Joe says:

oh it’s ok. :) just was wondering! thanks for the update! :)

  14. Shane says:

I blitzed my way through Double Share over this last weekend and loved every minute of it. Thank you Nate for the excellent stories, endearing characters, and all the passion weaved through Full Share.

  15. Jack says:

I thought (from quarter share) that ship suits did not count towards mass allotment. But in episode 5 Ish has to add his ship suits to the mass allotment when they arrive. Whats going on here? ;-)

  16. Nate says:

Has to do with whether or not the ship suits belong to the ship or the crewman. In Quarter Share, they belonged to the ship. In Double Share, they belonged to Ishmael. One of the reasons officers have a much higher mass allotment is that they’re expected to maintain their own uniforms rather than wearing the ship’s.

  17. David says:

I’m listening to DS again (can’t get enough!) and I can’t figure out the timing. Ish left the Lois for the academy at the end of summer, 2353. DS starts in May 2358, right after he graduated. This is 5 years, but he says multiple times that he spent 4 years at the academy. Did I miss a year?

  18. Nate says:

I *think* that the four years he spent bracket a new year. I may have screwed that up.

  19. Jack H says:

I just chalk it up to travel… large distances and all…. ;-)
