2019 Already?

I’ve just found some new comments on this blog and I’ve answered them.

Sorry for the long delay in responses.

FYI. I update my main site every month and the email notifications for new comments get delivered in my face so I’m less likely to lose a question (or forget to answer).

Here’s a recap:

1. I’m done with Ishmael for a while. By Darkness Forged is out, the manuscript is with Podium for Audible production. Ishmael & Co will return, but not right away. After five years in this universe, I need to write something else.

2. In spite of that I’m working on the latest attempt to write Cape Grace. That’s the book that goes between South Coast and Half Share and explains where Sarah Krugg comes from. It’s not going well but it’s going.

3. Audible editions. All of the existing Ishmael books will be on Audible as soon as Podium processes By Darkness Forged. The rest are already there. I have a production company working on the Tanyth Fairport stories for me so I can publish those myself. It’s taking a long time but I believe the time and money will be worth it in the long run. The Smuggler’s Tales (Natalya and Zoya) are waiting in the wings for me to decide which way to jump with them. They will be available on Audible. I just don’t know when.

4. Paperbacks. Every book has a paperback edition now except for By Darkness Forged. I keep thinking I’ll get that done this week. But I’ve thought that every week since I published the ebook. Amazon has screwed up the links for almost every paperback since they’ve forced me out of CreateSpace and into KDP for paper. If you can’t find one, let me know.

5. After South Coast, I’m working on a new sword and sorcery franchise featuring a barbarian horde, a hostage who must ride with them for a year and a day, and a challenge to what “civilized” means. It’s set in the Tanyth Fairport universe of magic but on a different continent. I need some “fun” writing after being dug into Ishmael and his issues. I hope this will be it.

Seriously. If you’re still following this blog, you need to go over to nathanlowell.com for updates and answers. :)

Safe voyage.

PS. I’ve discovered one of the reasons this site takes so long to load. In any given moment, it’s being hit by at least twenty-five bogus logins trying to crack the passwords. Wordfence is doing its job but this has been going on for weeks.

One Response to 2019 Already?

  1. Robin says:

    Hey, Skipper!

Thanks so much for the update on the Audible production of By Darkness Forged. I’m just getting into By Fire Called (for the third time), and I’m going to do my best to listen slowly! This series is so amazing that I gave the first four books to my 15 year old nephew, who keeps asking for the next two. Only thing giving me pause are the sexy bits as Ish grows up, and the assassination scene, (though I don’t think it will bother him at all.)

After all, Ish is a great role model for young men, and I love the way you write about his respect for women. Nice.

We need more of that in our culture, Nathan, so thanks..
