The Glamorous Life of an Author

Here’s the first book being signed and dedicated for a fan about 7am this morning.

There was quite a pile of addresses and I’ve already gone through half a case of books. We’re gonna have to order more pretty quickly I think.

In addition to these domestic US, there were copies to New Zealand, Australia, and Europe.

I don’t know how many you all have bought in total across the various media, but I’m fairly well amazed. When it all happens behind the screen, it’s hard to really get a feel for how many books are out there. With them stacked up on the dining room table like that, it gets very real.

Thank you, all.

Excellent Nathan. So happy to see the word getting out about these books. Now I am looking forward to hearing Owner’s Share. I can’t help but wonder if we are going to hear anything from the McKendrick as the series finishes… or is that another story?

  2. Anita Lewis says:

I got an unsigned book for the local library and an ebook for myself. Great cover! Oh, and I see the artist is also a writer; so I’m checking out his books as well.

  3. Scott H says:

Thanks for all the great adventures!! Looking forward to the book arriving in the mail!

  4. Elliot T says:

Thank you for your dedication, just got my notification of the book being shipped, can’t wait to read what I’ve listened to at least half a dozen times ;).

  5. Josh says:

Nate, this is awesome. I’m glad this published auther thing seems to be working out for you. You deserve it.
I’m getting ready to que up the whole series in my media player again, hoping to just finish Captain’s Share in time to subscribe to Owner’s Share. I don’t suppose you have an estimated timline for that yet? (Yeah, I’m trying to beg for more and be subtle at the same time, is it working? I’ll switch to grovelling if I need too…)

  6. Ryan says:

just placed an order for a hardcover copy. I can’t wait to read the print version of the story. Will the rest of the series eventually move to print?

  7. James says:

Is your hand cramping up yet? Kind of like buying a house. Thanks for all your hard work in putting this together. I won’t be at Balticon, but I will have to swing out and say hi sometime.

  8. Xenko says:

I ordered my copy earlier this week. I have so many books from podiobook authors… but I never actually read them. I just listen to the podcast version again :P.

  9. Gail says:

My two are on the way already, couldn’t believe you had got them done so soon. Thank you!
I will definitely read it when it arrives – I heard that the editing process went very extremely well and I look forward to seeing how it turned out. I get the signed one, the other can be lent to special people.
My mailman wonders why I watch him like a hawk.

  10. Karen says:

Please don’t stop with the ebook for the Kindle. I’d love a copy for my Nook!

  11. Nate says:

We didn’t. It’s currently available at Smashwords and I’ve already seen one picture of the book on a Nook :)

  12. Karen says:

Hooray! I’m on my way to smashwords!

  13. Gail says:

Ooh, let me dish a minute and tell you I ordered two other books (from two separate authors) months ago, neither of which has shipped.
Hm, now I think of it, Lee and Miller had a surprise sell-out of the first run of Saltation, and Seth Harwood’s Young Junius … isn’t printing until September. Oh.
    But still.
I’m very pleased to have some new books in the mail, on their way to me.

  14. Karen says:

SQUEEE!!! It’s mine! It’s mine! (fangirl episode finished) but I think I will go over to ravelry and let the podiobook group know. >smirk< hahahahaha

  15. Ari B. says:

    Mine arrived today. Awesome!

  16. Doug says:

Mine just arrived and I have to say I’m impressed with the quality of the art, typeface, and paper. Very good quality; Ridan didn’t just throw it all together. Nice job.

  17. Carl says:

Ordering my signed copy tonight, can’t wait. Ad me to the list of peeps making you miserable asking about Owners Share :) . Love your work Nate, I thank the Dark Goddess every time I hear an episode that Pip Balentine recommended you when I asked for a new podcast author. I caught up to you mid-way through Captain’s Share, and have been grabbing up all your work almost as fast as it can hit the feeds since.

  18. Caz says:

    Have you got cramp yet?
