New Ishmael

I’m just waiting for the cover artist now, but there’s new Ishmael on the way.

The three Seeker’s titles will probably be:

In Ashes Born
To Fire Called
By Darkness Forged

I’ve gotten Ashes back from the beta readers and editor. All I need is a cover. I’m hoping for an October 1 release.

The new series – Smuggler’s Tales – is underway. I’m still sketching the universe as it looks from the Darkside, but that series – featuring new crews, ships, and stations – is underway and I’m hoping for a release there in December. Making a December release will require all the planets aligning so it’ll probably be more like January before that one comes out.

Some fans formed a Facebook group and they’re pretty active on a daily basis. If you’d like to be part of that conversation, you can find it at:

See you ’round the docks.

Gunderson? Smitty? You’re not going to leave them hanging are you Captain?

  2. The Captain says:

We’ll be back at Odin’s sooner than you might think ;)

Just finished the new solar clipper tale and I found it most excellent. The original ‘share’ series are amongst my favourite books of all time and the new series are very welcome.

I have to admit that I didn’t like the ending of Owners Share, it didn’t feel right for the ending of such a vibrant, positive story. The new series book has left me wanting more, Thank You for that.

wow.! just finished and all I can is ..next please. I try to read slowly and savor the moments and little lessons about life and joy …but is is just so good ..I always get to the too quickly. Big fan of all your work but this series is still my favorite.

What is on the cover? Is that an orbital or a bar bell? I pictured the bar bells differently.

  6. Inga says:

Loved this first book in the new series. I’m looking forward to the next books in the Seeker’s Tales, and to see where you go with the other series in your ‘verse. I’m waiting to see where Cape Grace leads us in that series.

Out of curiosity, will you be doing up the logo for Pheonix Freight? I loved the FF one you did back so much that it’s been my lock screen background on my tablet for what seems like forever. It kind of seems like I’m due for a new background and the spiral sounds like it woud be a good replacement.

  7. The Captain says:

The Phoenix Freight logo is done!

I’ll have to get it posted here shortly.

  8. Laura Stephenson says:

Happy dance! Just got Ashes from Amazon. So joyous! Now I have to remember that I have to work tomorrow and not to read all night…Thank you, Captain! See you in the Deep Dark!

  9. Dru Devore says:

Are you going to podcast this? I love hearing the stories in your voice.

  10. The Captain says:

    That’s up for negotiation, Dru.

There *will* be audio. Right this moment, I don’t know when that might happen or if I’ll be the narrator.

    Nathan,
Thanks from all of us long time Ishmal fans for your latest addition to his saga! I was an original donor to your first book, Quarter Share, way back on Podiobooks.com in 2006 or so. I have lost count of how many times I have relistened to all of your books on road trips and flights around the world. Thanks from the heart from all of us.

    Thomas

I just finished the last book in the “Solar Clipped Tales”, and enjoyed them all. I thank the author for the first book for free, I couldn’t put it down and purchased all the others as I finished each one. I look forward to reading more from the author!

Your work is very refreshing and capturing in its ever forward flowing story telling adventure of avery young man put into a bind that caused him to discover himself in a world he would never could have imgened himself in if his mom had not died in an accident…..

Speaking of “Quarter Share” and all the way to finishing “Full Share” !!

Yes I jumpted over to “In Ashes Born” !!!!

I was upset that I had been reading these 1st 3 books too fast it such a joy to read them !!! So I wanted to get into something else and try to save the last 3 of The Traders tales of the Soler Clipper,,,!!!

But I was amazed to see I last read in book 3 Where Is was leaving the Lois and going to the Acadamey…..In Full Share,,,!!!

Then in Book 1 in Seekers Series – book – “In Ashes Born” – Captain Ish returns to the Acadamey after 20 years……

But these books were very well led me back into where Is had been and what he had been doing after the acadamey…..

How he came to understand why he had returnedthere and what it was be truley saw what he really wanted to do in his life…..

These books (4) have been raising my hopes and excitement like I was very much there and able to see them engaged in their day to day lives abord a Deep Space Freighter through Ish’s experiences with his many friends and fellow crew dealing with the Caprain who knew more about Ish And knew how to guide him in tough times.

lessons learned at an early age can shape us all for better or worse. But there seems to be a silver lining in many experiences abord the Lois that no one can for see until it comes in unexpectedly ……

You I fear have spoiled me for readling other authers in this well constructed series !!! Delighted me all the way around and I hope Is and the soler clippers will always be giving us another adventure to digest in our quiet pleasure to btaste of its many unexpected situations and people that are always effected by Ish in his handeling of his crew and friends…..

Thank you for your time and your authering great novels……

    The happy reader, Charles……….

  14. Mike says:

    Nathan,
I loved “In Ashes Born” and am very happy that you are forging forward with these tales.. Can you arrange with Amazon/Kindle to let us pre-order your books for automatic purchase & delivery when you finish them? E.M.Foner has done this with the 8 book “…on Union Station” series and it has been great to magically get the books as quickly as possible. I would like to sign up for the rest of the Seeker’s Tales and the Smuggler’s tales.
PS. your catalog needs to be updated with Seeker book 1

  15. John M. Barden says:

    Nathan,
Once more into the breach, I just finished (In Ashes Born). It was like I had just finished Owner’s Share. Keep up the good work and if you can get five books out in a year we are going to start calling you Admiral. Safe Voyage.

    John M. Barden

  16. John M. Barden says:

    Nathan,
Just read star bound (exile). When do you expect Natalya and Zoya’s adventures to begin. Great premis, I be waiting for the flesh out.

    John

  17. The Captain says:

    Soon.

I’m writing it now and if I can get a bit of focus going, it shouldn’t take much longer to get finished.

  18. Jim Lozano says:

I second Dru. Unfortunately, since my time is very limited these days my only option is to listen to audio books as I drive my long commute to and from work. I’m also too used to hearing the story in your voice. For some reason I get to my destination hungry and wanting coffee :) Looking forward to it!

  19. Inga says:

So…whatever happened with three Phoenix Freight logo? I’ve not seen it posted anywhere.

  20. The Captain says:

I posted it on the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper Facebook group.
