Double Share: Update

You’ve been very patient. The status:

I’ve written five chapters, but Day Job has been too invasive with many things getting between me and your next book.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that I’ve worked out a deal with my boss to take 2 days a week off from Day Job so I can dedicate the time to writing. My plan now is to finish all three of the remaining “Share” novels by Labor Day.

I’m going to go thru my email and find all the graphics I haven’t posted and I’ll get those into the gallery tomorrow if nothing else breaks between now and then. And I’ll announce the winners this weekend.

Last and probably least, I’ll be at Balticon over Memorial Day weekend and looking forward to meeting some of you there and playing fanboy with some of the other podcast novelists who will be attending.

There IS still more news that I can’t share, but on the horizon I’ve got:

1. A “voice talent” gig with an Australian author – Geoff Maloney – doing the audiobook version of his upcoming anthology “Six Silly Stories” which will be released later this year in the UK.

2. A contribution to a “best of the pod” short story anthology in the works from Dragon Moon Press.

3. There is a press considering Quarter Share for paper publication. I’ll let ya know if/when it gets picked up.

4. I’m in discussion with JC Hutchins to make some Trader’s Tales ring tones. That’s just starting up so we’ll see where that goes.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for something good to listen to, try Joe Cottonwood’s Clear Heart. Joe and I have a lot in common in our writing, except he’s really good. I think you’ll enjoy learning about carpentry as much as about shipboard life.

Thanks for being patient, shipmates.

In my field, two days a week off are called the “weekend”! The idea is becoming popular I hear. Email me sometime if you have trouble adjusting, maybe I can give some pointers on what some people do on a weekend.

  3. Ben says:

That “weekend” thing is probably commited to his “family” I also hear they’ve been popular for a few millennia ;)

And thanks for the update Nate! That looks like some awesome stuff that you’re working on. The voice talent seems right up your alley, I can think of any number of books that I’d love to hear you read to me!

And 3 novels by Labor day?!!?! Insanity!

  4. Nate says:

I’ve heard of this “weekend” thing of which you speak. Seems to me I remember those from back before I was a grad student, but … Gosh.

Actually, the two days a week are the vacation – Thursday and Friday – which will lead into the Saturday and Sunday when people are in my house and asking for things like lawn care and feeding and such. They look familiar, these people. I know I’ve seen them before…

Yes can’t wait for the net installment:-P I’ll be waiting in newcastle twiddeling my thumbs:-P Oh and weekends? what are these, i spend the weekends at school, or playing soldier :-) lol.

  7. Greg says:

Three novels by Labor Day, I am delighted at the prospect and remain in awe of your production rate. All the Share novels deserve to be published. Perhaps it time to pull a “Sigler” and rally the fans. I for one would be happy to contact any potential publisher. As for your writing skills, I can’t compare you to Joe Cottonwood, but you might be channeling Poul Anderson …

  8. Adam says:

I think this is soo much better than sigler:-P

  9. Sueper says:

    Great news
Sue is smiling that huge smile again. I will win a record for eating bananas sideways one of these days.
    :O)

  10. Chris says:

Nate, you definately deserve to be published. New stories that are both engaging and have no real villain are too few. I’m one of those people who never read a book more than once or watch a movie more than once, because either I remember it picture perfect from the first time or wasn’t that interested. I’ve listened to the whole share series 4 times so far and I’m probably going to listen to it again before “Double Share” comes out. I enjoy reliving the experience over and over. Thanks.

  11. Ari B. says:

I just finished Full Share, having ripped through quarter and half in a matter of weeks. I’m really looking forward to Double Share!

  12. Bob B. says:

Cant wait for Double Share Nate!! I too have listened to your first 3 novels 3 or 4 times. In the meantime I am “settling” for some other podcasts.. :)

  13. Nate says:

Don’t overlook South Coast while you’re waiting.

The wait shouldn’t be TOO much longer now.

  14. Fiction7 says:

I group Sigler, Nate, and the evil Hutchinsssss all together for writing quality. Styles may differ but those are the only three podcasters I have gotten absolutley addicted too. I hope your work gets published becuase I would love a boxed set of the Share novels on my bookcase :)
