December? What?

Oh mercy! When did it get to be December? About ten days ago by the calendar but my body says it’s really November 41st.

Or something.

State of the Onion:
> Half Share is still in layout. I still haven’t seen the galley. The cover art has been out for awhile and I’m watching the mail for my copy. I’ll let everybody know when I see it. Yes, unlike NY publishers, we’ll be releasing e- and paper at the same time and as soon as possible. The limited edition hardcovers may lag a bit but they’ll be along.

> Owner’s Share has had a full revision finally. I didn’t get to 150k but it’s a lot shorter than 220k and I think it’s a lot tighter. I’ve started looking for music and the production recording will begin as soon as I have a quiet house now that the Lung Crud is releasing its grip on my chest.

> I think there are still a few of the commemorative coffee mugs left and if you’re looking for some other Golden Age swag, try the Cafe Press Store. (I really need to get some new designs up there, I think.)

> The StarShipSofa episode with my first narration for them – a Tad Williams short called “The Tenth Muse” – and it even has a lil interview with me conducted by Tony C. Smith himself. There should be another story coming along soon.

> I need to get back on my feet and walking. I miss the exercise. Watch for #tommw starting again soon if you follow me on twitter. That’s “Tweeting On My Morning Walk” for those who didn’t catch it the first time around.

Safe voyage and a happy holiday season to one and all.

    Great to hear it!

I can’t think of a better way to bring in the new year than by listening to a new Nathan Lowell project (especially an Epic length one like this!)

  2. Rabin Hudson says:

    Happy Holidays, sar! <3

  3. delbert says:

How much of the proceeds do you get from mug sales? If you don’t mind my asking.

  4. Ellen says:

I just wanted to let you know I am a huge fan of Horatio :) I do leatherworking and listen to audiobooks as I pound and I get lost in the world of the solar clipper. Thanks so much for writing a book with such kind and loving characters…there aren’t enough of them! Hope you have a Merry Christmas! Or Happy Holiday! take your pick :D

  5. Jafo Calamity says:

I see you got the URL icon working, thank you thank you thank you! Now my button bar looks so much nicer! Now if only Blip would do the same…

Should we expect Owner’s Share to be available in January? That will be a good month indeed…

  7. Sean says:

Happy Holidays to a new favorite author!

Do you have an estimate for Half Share being available in print/ebook form? Is it still on track for pre-Christmas release? Nothing could be finer than to enjoy a new book whilst relaxing over the long weekends!

  8. delbert says:

(If I’m going to pay that much for a mug, I want to know you get most of the proceeds.)

I knew it if i listened to the entire share series again it would cause the cosomos to push forward Owner’s Share. Every time i listen i gain more questions that i hope Owner’s Share answers. And just for good measure i listened to Ravenwood, South Coast, and the Crown Conspiracy. Hell I think i would listen to you read US Tax Code and be happy to hear your dulcet tones. Great work and keep it up.

  10. kevin says:

Well wishes to all for the winter season. Which brings me to my Question did Christmas make it into space?

  11. David says:

    Kenn,
If listening to the series again helps, I’m all for it! I’m on my 4th go-around on FS, LOL.

  12. Ugh, that crud is nasty this time of year. I’ve still got a little lingering with me, and I’ve been fighting it the better part of a month. :(
Hoping you’re feeling better soon, sar!

  13. Megan P. says:

Only your 4th go-around? I want to hear you working harder crewman! J/K!!!

    Feel better Nate!

Been thinking about making CDs of some podcast books and putting them in my families’ white elephant gift exchanges. I don’t know if anyone would listen to them, but that would mean a copy is in the hands of someone who otherwise wouldn’t have ever known about these wonderful books!

If you don’t know what a white elephant is: it’s sort of a gift giving game. Instead of everyone buying gifts for each other, the idea is to spend little or nothing on a gift b re-gifting somehting you already have and what to get rid of. You wrap it and put it in a pile with all the other white elephant gifts. It can literally be anything. Someone once brought a spare 10-pack of tape rolls, while someone else brought an foot masager they hadn’t even ever opened! Then, everyone who brought something takes turns picking out a gift from the pile. Gifts can be stolen 3 times over the corse of the game and the first picker gets a chance to steal at the end if they would like. Everyone goes home with SOMETHING, usually amusing. It’s fun!

  14. Nate says:

Hmm.. I wonder if I should put together some ISO files that can be burned direct to CD …

  15. Jafo Calamity says:

yeah martin up spacer! 4 times, only 4 times? I think you can listen to them one more time. Kenn, I think your right, I’ld listen to anything and everything that he reads. I love the Share series, and the one part that really cracked me up in “Ravenwood” was when they where all moving to the barn and the kids singing about pooping in the straw, I bout squeed my shipsuit. I enjoyed “The Tenth Muse” And can hardly wait for ” Avempartha” (By Michael Sullivan) and even “Cape Grace” I’m not complain’n Sar, I know you’ll get them to us when they are ready and your ready. I’ve known ya for over a have a century, and ya aint let me down yet. :)
