Nate,

I cannot believe that Double Share lost out to FETIDUS. I will admit that the production values are OK on "F", but the story and narrative (and some of the voice acting) just weren't that strong in my opnion. Additionally, It seemed too much 'old radio show style', but too far into tongue-in-cheek and way too simplistic for my taste.

I echo the comment from above about Double Share being your finest effort to date. As to "Captain's Share" being the last in the series, well... you never know. A good writer may once in a while find additional hidden inspiration after a bit of 'vacation' away from a series. But whether Captain's Share is to be the last in the line or not, I remain a staunch fan of the 'Share' books. This is a really fine series which will stand the test of time. (DQ = definite quality)

Just popping by to second Richard's opinion on your "dragon-can't" Twitter reports. I laughed out loud at some (OK, most) of those.

I can't really comment on the FETIDUS vs. Double Share issue, because I haven't had the opportunity to listen to FETIDUS yet. Once I go back to commuting daily in a few weeks (when my broken ankle is healed), I probably will have a listen, but I just want you to know that whatever else is out there, that doesn't change the fact that I, for one, thoroughly enjoy the 'Share' stories. It's not for nothing that I still keep them on my iPod at all times :).

Parsec or no Parsec, you are ALWAYS a winner as far as we fans are concerned!

If you had a gold star for every time one of us loved one of your episodes, ... well it would be "full of stars" !

“Captain’s share is better than Double Share” - oh, I am so geeking out right now.

BTW, Your "Dragon Can't" tweets were pure gold.
And last BTW, great job voice acting in "Down from Ten" (who knew you were French) ;)

Nathan,
Congrats on the "almost Parsec". It's amazing to me how one person can manage such a wide variety of skills and literally succeed at them. From a technology guy to a writer and oh yeah family man too. Amazing. You've managed to prove and not only convince many people like myself that you deserve recognition for your efforts. I hope that tenacity pays off for you on the next round. I've had a listen to Fetidus. The production is pretty good and I can see why he was in the running for the award. But to me the most difficult part of the writing process is the construction of the story line and the intricacies of character building which you have mastered very quickly. Hands down you have Fetidus beat as a lasting piece of literature.

Thank you for your stories Mr Lowell, I eagerly await your future projects and want to extend to you a virtual "pat on the back" for doing so well. Good luck with Captains Share, and thank you again for your hard work. It means a great deal to all of your listeners.

I Like Fetidus, its got the makings of a good novel but I personally felt it should not have been in the competion on the basis of 7 chapters - that's barely novella size . I personally felt Double share was the oustanding entry but I suppose it's all down to personal choice on the part of the Judges.
"Captain's share is better than Double Share" - I'm literally salivating - hurry up Nate.

I'll confess I am more than a little disappointed. I'm not sure how an incomplete novel competes against four finished ones for best story and wins, but James Durham did it. (It's not a genre I follow so I can't really judge the quality of the work and I wouldn't even if I could.)

The good news is that Captain's Share is better than Double Share, and FETIDUS won't be eligible again next year. You only get one shot at Parsecs and James took his shot this year. It was a heck of a risk - if he lost this year, he wouldn't have been eligible again next year - but it paid off for him.

Hat's off to him.

I can't compare the winner with Double Share, because "Listener Discretion advised" means I don't listen to it. Thanks for your quality, Nate.
