Double Share : Episode One

29 June, 2008 (16:46) | Books, Double Share

Since you’ve all been so nice, I’ll post the first episode prototype here. It’s the full text, but the ID3 tags are messed up, there’s, no cover art in it, and there may well be editing flubs since even the QC team hasn’t heard this full episode yet.

Direct from me, to you.

Thanks to Great Big Sea for the music .. and I’m hoping they’ll get back from Vancouver soon and check their email.

The music came from Podshow’s Music Directory

Oh, my have I missed that voice! This one sounds like it may well be as good as the others. Although it is sort of sad to see the four of them split up and heading in different directions. Okay, I’m ready for episode two.

I have to say I have been loving your trilogy so far. I have recommended your stories to every one I know. I wanted you to know that there has only been one mistake I have found and that Is in full share. sorry I do not know the spelling on all your characters ishemal takes ohenry rubias data chip out of his coat pocket when the last time you mentioned that data chip he took it out of that pocket and placed it in his locker. I also want to suggest two books to you that might have give an interesting twist to let us follow pip as well. if you have time read Oroson Scott Cards “Ender’s Game” and “Ender’s Shadow” and to any of you scifi fans I recomend it as well.

love your work keep it coming.

Damn your good. wink lol Dustin

- Nate note: Thanks, Dustin. It’s hard to know how to spell a name when you only hear it. The man’s name is “Henri Roubaille” – “on-REE ROO-by-YAY” … I’ll double check that continuity issue, too. – NL

Ya so I am sort of a new fan of the books. I have gotten past all the other share book.
Any ways seeing this first Episode of Double Share was like a curse because I new that the goodness would end and i would have a cliff-hanger

And off we go! Sad to see Ish and Bev and Bril go their separate ways, but that’s life after officer training – everyone scatters to the winds. What’s the timeline for posting episodes on podiobooks.com?

I’m working toward getting the first 5 episodes up on Podiobooks by 7/4/08. And then 5 a week after that until all 25 are done. It depends on day job and any other “sekrit projeks” that come along. :)

OMG!!! Great Big Sea and Nathan Lowell together in one package? Wait I must check my pulse…. I can’t wait to listen to the new episode, but I just started to re listen to half share (for like the 20th time), and I can’t just stop in the middle. Now, if only I could get you and Mur together…. hmmm….

My Emma will be bummed to miss the first Episode of Ish’s new adventure (she headed for camp this morn). Nate, it’s like meeting up with a old, dear friend one hasn’t seen for awhile and having some catch up time, there’s always new things to talk about but there’s that same comfortable feeling. You have such a distinctive style, laidback but lively. The music is a great choice. I can’t wait for the next episode, I’ve really missed your stories! Thanks so much for sharing with us. :) Joan

Thanks so much. Great start and looking forward to the rest. Also intrigued by the “sekrit projeks”. Any relation to the Secret Mission Of Death [SMOD (tm)]?

ever consider making trying to sell the universe your creating to make a trading game? kinda like Tom Clancey’s “Rainbow Six” ? might be kinda hard to do but If you think about it. could very well be a interesting game to play and as long as you cut out the hotel and bunk bunny parts of it you could very well keep it pretty pg. I think It would be definitly challengeing

With games like Traveller, and the Alien Assault Traders already out there, it’s doubtful that we could make this work but it’s an interesting idea.

Yeah, I had thought of mentioning the trading game idea. But as Nate points out there are a lot of games out there in that genre.

[game topic] So ether you are going to be in control of the ship. or some one that can take test and get higher then 80% (what the lowest for the real test. 84% right) any ways if the ideal is going to be the latter what i would do is talk to coders that have done coding for Sims2.
but the thing is some one would have to have Sims2 on there computer

nah just think though if he made it a game your charcter starts as person on a planet you have to get hired on or work at flea market then you can move up in the ship and trade as you go move to a military ship and get spoils of war work merchant vessels and move up.. yes there are games out there but I think if you take the Universe Nate has created you could potentially build a game that is like nothing that is out there at the moment. plus remember most of todays gamers have short attention spans. expect for the old schoolers like my self who play one game and stick with it for years.

and think if you play for a long time and make it multi player and are able to purchase more than one ship you could hire all your freinds……. and build a trade armada….. lol

Oh, wonderful! I’m so glad that you’ve posted this. I’ve been looking forward to it for ages… I must bring it to my brother, who is also a fan.

Sad to see the group split up :( but it does happen. I’m very interested to see what you’re going to do with Ish, and if their paths will cross again. I certainly hope so! Thanks for writing and doing the audio!

Ah. I’m normally a hoarder, waiting for a book to be completed, then gobbling it all down at once… but I don’t think I can hold out for this one. Keep ‘em coming!

I love Double Share so far. I think it’s darn realistic that Ish didn’t rule the school. It had begun to seem as though he was rapidly developing “Wesley Crusher Syndrome” or “Honor Harrington-itis” – perfect in every way. Having him develop feet of clay, or in this case, reflexes of oatmeal – that makes me like him even more. He’s not perfect. He’s just good.
