Friday Update: 78,250

20 June, 2008 (23:11) | Books, Double Share

Well, not as good a week as I’d hoped, but I spent 6,500 words on a side project with another author. You’ll hear more about that when the Sekrit Is Revealed. It’ll be fun, I think.

And in other news, some of you know already, but there’s a fan forum. If you wanted to talk about the books or play in the sandbox, you can find a really plain looking forum at http://durandus.org/fans

Be nice and have fun.

Back on the book front. It looks like we’ll break the magic 80k mark tomorrow, and then its just a question of wrapping up the plot threads. There are a few of them, but it’s been fun so far.

Keep the faith. I’m still shooting to get this up by the Fourth. We’ll see.

I sure hope you can start publishing on the Fourth. It would make a great birthday present to me.

Monday Morning Update.

Well, I’m closing on 100k right now. And realized that the GREAT WHIZBANG ENDING is for a different book than the one I’m writing.

Soooo … after wrestling with the plotigators over night, I’ve placed an order for 47 cubic yards of plotcrete to fill in the plotholes (again) and I’ve got about 82 square meters of plotonium coming over night.

The result should be pure bliss.

Or at least logically coherent from one end to the middle … I’m hoping for both ends to the middle, but that’ll have to wait to see how smooth I can fill in the plotholes.

This is gonna be very cool I think.

Sounds intersting and am curious which book ending you’ve already created now…

Plotonium usually comes in cubic meters. Someone ripped you off. Looking forward to the book and playing spot the plothole.

Ah, you’re right — it was a typo. That shoulda read “82 CUBIC meters” … thanks for catching that. I knew better. It was delivered today and the kids are having fun building forts with the boxes.

Anybody got tips for herding hippoplotamuses?

Hippoplotamuses are very docile if you keep them next to the duck-billed plotypusses.

The relationship between the two is purely plotonic of course :)

Try Border Collies (BC’s) they can herd ANYTHING!

I think I’m starting to see a plottern. If you plot the bad puns by the author, you’ll spot (the plothole) that he’s completely lost the plot and plotted a course for even worse puns by the readers. I of course am guilty of such plotting and respectfully disagree with Scott as they are Border Plotties. And whatever happened to those plotigators?

They’re nipping at my heels but I think I’ve got them corralled for the moment.
